Thanks to President Wang Zhili’s distinguished personal stature and academic standing in diabetes research, numerous renowned diabetes specialists from home and abroad have assembled at Beijing Chaoyang Diabetes Hospital, laying a solid foundation for the hospital to launch operations from a high academic starting point.

Officially opened on July 18, 2004, Beijing Chaoyang Diabetes Hospital is a modern specialized diabetes hospital featuring large-scale capacity, advanced facilities, well-structured departments and outstanding professional expertise. To date, the hospital has treated nearly one million outpatients and inpatients. It has won high recognition and wide acclaim from diabetic patients across China, as well as from the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other regions worldwide.
Hospital Profile
The hospital covers an area of 4 acre, with 99 inpatient beds.

“Build brand through medical quality; earn reputation via integrity-based services” is our hospital’s guiding principle. Drawing on cutting-edge technologies, concepts and methodologies in global diabetology, and adapting them to the clinical profile of Chinese diabetic patients, the hospital has developed the Integrated Systemic Therapy for Pancreatic Islet-Cell Protection. This therapy effectively protects damaged pancreatic islet cells in diabetic patients, halts disease progression, and delivers both symptomatic relief and root-cause intervention, representing the frontier of diabetes care.
Over the past two decades since its founding, nearly one million patients from across China and overseas regions, China have received treatment with this therapy. Among them are numerous foreign ambassadors and international dignitaries. A considerable number of patients have maintained ideal blood glucose levels for years relying solely on diet and physical activity, with complete discontinuation of oral hypoglycemic agents and insulin injections.

Worldwide, the average amputation rate for diabetic foot is approximately 10% in Western countries. Our hospital has treated 400 patients with diabetic foot using a comprehensive therapy based on systematic bioengineering principles, with no major amputations among these patients.
Professor Sir S. R. Bloom, Fellow of the Royal Society and former President of the Society for Endocrinology (UK), toured our hospital and conducted academic exchanges. He commented on the hospital’s disciplinary achievements:
“In terms of pancreatic islet-cell protection for diabetic patients, Beijing Chaoyang Diabetes Hospital embodies systematic, advanced and scientific therapeutic concepts for diabetes. Its clinical standards, patient services, volume of concurrent insulin‑pump applications and accumulated clinical experience surpass most hospitals in the United Kingdom and Europe. It ranks among the world’s top-tier specialized diabetes hospitals.”
